Contemplation

Through 40 black and white photographs, Matthieu Ricard invites us to this contemplation. He leads us into the unaltered vastness of landscapes from Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, and beyond.

He captures the tenderness of a radiant spiritual master or an innocent-eyed child. His luminous photographs, imbued with harmony, immerse us in a universe of peace, conducive to spirituality. Interwoven with carefully chosen thoughts, they are an ode to fulfillment and guide us towards values as fundamental as consideration for others or benevolence.

First presented in 2018 in Arles at the Rencontres de la photographie, the traveling exhibition “Contemplation” attracted over 50,000 visitors. Each of the 40 black and white photographs is accompanied by a thought selected by the photographer. A bilingual book featuring meditative quotes in French and English accompanies the exhibition.
